Gene Arthur Schnuelle, 82 of Postville, Iowa passed away Monday, November 27, 2023 at Gundersen Palmer Hospital in West Union, Iowa. Gene was born July 13, 1941 to William and Lela (Harnack) Schnuelle in Postville, Iowa. He was baptized on August 30, 1941 in Monona, Iowa by Pastor H. W. Siefkes and confirmed on March 25, 1956 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa by Pastor Charles E. Witt. Gene graduated from Postville High School in 1960 and proudly joined and served in the United States AirForce.

Zachary student makes Upper Iowa University honors list
Upper Iowa University announced Aujahnae Coady, of Zachary, made the dean's list for the Spring 2024 semester. To be honored, the undergraduate must have earned a minimum 3.50 GPA and be enrolled as a full-time student. Coady is a psychology major.

LUANA -- Amazing Grace has called Dad home. James Allyn Walter, 85, of Luana, passed away June 19, 2024 at the ICU in La Crosse, Wisconsin. A funeral service was Saturday, June 29 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona with Rev. Erika Lenth as the officiant. Burial was at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Monona.

FAYETTE — Michael Morris may be new to Fayette, but he says the pride he takes in getting the job done right and fairly supersedes everything. The city of Fayette Police Department recently appointed Morris, a Western Tennessee native, as the new chief of police at the council meeting on Monday, July 15. Morris was sworn in that Wednesday by Fayette Mayor Nathan Post. Now, he is hoping to rebuild the department starting from the ground up as they transition into the next fleet of dedicated officers.

STRAWBERRY POINT, Iowa — A large crowd turned out for Wednesday's Strawberry Point City Council meeting, where the fire department was a large topic on the agenda. City council members voted on whether or not to keep the town's fire chief in his title. In a 4-2 vote, Nic Stelken will not be the town's fire chief any longer.
