Crestwood girls bounce Waukon; fall to Comets; lose to Hawks in regionals
MANCHESTER - The Crestwood softball team concluded the regular season by splitting road games against Waukon and Charles City. On July 8, the Cadets rallied to defeat the Waukon Indians, 7-2. Taking on Charles City on July 9, a late rally by Crestwood fell short as the Comets held on for a 9-6 win.

Paul Welsh, age 82 of Wauzeka, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024. The funeral service for Paul will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at the Kendall Funeral Service, 209 Mary Street, Boscobel. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Paul will be laid to rest at the Wauzeka Cemetery. Strawberry Point Council Votes Against Reappointing Fire Chief
The Strawberry Point City Council voted no on reappointing Fire Chief Nic Stelken on Wednesday night, which means the fire department remains out of service. Last Thursday, the Strawberry Point Fire Department announced they were out of service immediately due to the continued lack of support from the mayor and city council. Members of the department voluntarily made the unanimous decision to turn in their pagers.
