Hope Town Council sets streets for Community Crossings work
HOPE – After several months of discussion, the Hope Town Council has given final approval to specific street improvements they wish to make next year. With a combined total of $149,457, the list of projects must be turned into the Indiana Department of Transportation for consideration in the second round of the 2024 Community Crossings Matching Grant (CCMG) program.
Pet food distribution set for Thursday
Friends of Columbus Animal Care Services (FCACS) will distribute pet food through its Furry Friends Food Bank distribution from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, (or until supplies last), at Columbus Municipal Airport, 4770 Ray Boll Blvd. The pet food will be distributed in the parking lot in front of the plane, Charlie 119.
Spartanettes superior at NDA camp
The Connersville Spartanette Dance Team came away with Excellent ratings for their Home and Team Lead Routines at the 2024 National Dance Alliance team camp at Ball State University in Muncie last week. The Spartanettes earned a gold plaque for a Superior Team Routine, the Heart-Of-Gold Certificate, the St. Jude’s Spirit Stick (awarded to one team in recognition of their support for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital), five Spirit Ribbons, and one Showmanship Ribbon as a team.
Man charged with molesting child in Franklin 17 years ago
An Anderson man is accused of molesting a child multiple times more than 17 years ago in Franklin. Neale VanSickle, 41, is charged with two counts of child molestation as a Class C felony. The charges were filed under Indiana’s old criminal code because the incidents took place before 2014, when the code was updated and moved to the numeric felony system.

Patricia Joan (Slyker) Zehr
Patricia Joan (Slyker) Zehr, 91, of Franklin, Indiana was born on April 15, 1933, to Nellie Claypole Slyker and William V Slyker. She passed away on July 14, 2024, at the Masonic Home in Franklin, IN. She married Edgar Zehr of Jasper, IN on February 6, 1957, and he survives.
