Woman arrested for resisting arrest, attempt to disarm an officer
COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Deputy Ryan Smith was heading north on State Street on Friday just before 3 p.m. when he observed a southbound SUV being driven erratically. He reported the SUV going about 80 mph, swerving, and recklessly passing other vehicles. He activated his emergency lights and siren to catch up to the car.
Registration open for ‘The City’ tennis open
Registration is open for the Columbus “The City” Open tennis tournament, which will take place from July 26-29 at Columbus North High School. There will be singles and doubles divisions for 4.0 Men’s Open, 4.0 Women’s Open, 3.0 Women’s 18-and-over, Open Men’s, 3.5 Men’s 50-and-over and doubles divisions for Open Mixed and 3.5 Mixed 50-and-over. Entry fees are $25 for singles and $15 per player for doubles.
Man charged with molesting child in Franklin 17 years ago
An Anderson man is accused of molesting a child multiple times more than 17 years ago in Franklin. Neale VanSickle, 41, is charged with two counts of child molestation as a Class C felony. The charges were filed under Indiana’s old criminal code because the incidents took place before 2014, when the code was updated and moved to the numeric felony system.
Prince’s Lakes Town Council meetings to begin earlier starting in August
Prince’s Lakes Town Council meetings will start 30 minutes earlier starting next month. Town council meetings will start at 6 p.m. effective Aug. 19, officials announced Wednesday. They currently start at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 19 is the date of the next town council meeting.
Spartanettes superior at NDA camp
The Connersville Spartanette Dance Team came away with Excellent ratings for their Home and Team Lead Routines at the 2024 National Dance Alliance team camp at Ball State University in Muncie last week. The Spartanettes earned a gold plaque for a Superior Team Routine, the Heart-Of-Gold Certificate, the St. Jude’s Spirit Stick (awarded to one team in recognition of their support for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital), five Spirit Ribbons, and one Showmanship Ribbon as a team.
Residents invited to give feedback on comp plan
Residents can now give feedback on Edinburgh’s draft comprehensive plan, which will steer the town’s growth and direct future land use. HWC Engineering presented the public draft of the new Edinburgh Comprehensive Plan to the plan commission on Tuesday. The aim was to gather feedback from residents and town officials as the plan heads toward adoption later this summer.
