IU Columbus to have walk-in event
Indiana University Columbus will have walk-in hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 22 to 26 for admitted and prospective students to meet individually with admissions counselors. The theme of the week is “Plant Your Roots at IU Columbus,” and every attendee will receive seeds for a redbud and a tulip tree, planting cups, soil, and a flyer with growth instructions, along with wildflower seed paper. Registration is not required but is encouraged. To register, visit go.iu.edu/columbus-visit.

Judge delays Schaffer’s sentencing to September
WASHINGTON — A federal judge has granted a request to postpone sentencing for a former Columbus resident who has pleaded guilty to storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, after prosecutors asked for the delay following the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling on the scope of an obstruction charge.

Vennis F. Campbell
Vennis F. (Vince) Campbell Jr., age 92, passed away on July 12, 2024. He was born on August 14, 1931, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, IN, to Vennis F. and Myrtle M. (Andis) Campbell. He married the love of his life, Linda L. (Crump) Yenowine, on June 13, 1970. Their love was a testament to the enduring power of marriage, as they were married for over 47 years until her passing. He never left her side and has kept her in his heart since.

Residents invited to give feedback on comp plan
Residents can now give feedback on Edinburgh’s draft comprehensive plan, which will steer the town’s growth and direct future land use. HWC Engineering presented the public draft of the new Edinburgh Comprehensive Plan to the plan commission on Tuesday. Jana Lee Curry
Jana Lee Curry (Wilson), 77 of Trafalgar, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024. She was born on March 12, 1947 in Clarksville, Indiana to Paul and Madge (Sadler) Wilson. She married Jerry Curry on June 23, 1978. He lovingly survives. She is also survived by children, Juli Baurain (Tina), Jack Long (Wassana) and Jody Curry; grandchildren, Jay Johns (Dawn), Lyndsey Johns (Sarah), Netty Fuekhad (Khimie), Jessica Long and Jesse Ryan and great-grandchildren, Amber Lynn Canfield and Moji Fuekhad; brothers, Jerry Wilson and Jimmy Wilson; sister-in-law Carla Wilson and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in passing by her parents; son, Jerry “Bubba” Curry, Jr.; brother, John “Doug” Wilson and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Wilson and Mary Wilson.
