Girls wrestling: Rogotzke places third in state tourney

ST. PAUL — Audrey Rogotzke added another state medal to her collection after competing the girls wrestling state individual tourney on Saturday, March 2 at the Xcel Center.

The sophomore placed third in the 142-pound weight class, which follows her state championship at 120 pounds in 2022 and a state runner-up showing a year ago.

Rogotzke opened the tournament with a 15-0 tech fall over Ash Strang of Mille Lacs before falling to eventual champion Kylie Donat of Bemidji 4-3 in the semifinals.

It was the first and only loss of the season for Rogotzke (33-1), who bounced back by pinning Brianna Berg (32-13) of Thief River in 2:53 in the third-place match.

Donat went on to defeat Alley Atringer of Anoka 5-2 in the finals.

Rogotzke pinned Donat (36-1) in the finals of the Rumble on the Red Tournament in Fargo, N.D., on Dec. 30, handing the senior her only loss of the season.

This was the third year the MSHSL has conducted the girls wrestling state tournament. Competition was held in 13 weight classes, an increase of one from the previous year.

Rogotzke advanced to state with a victory in the Section 2 and 4 individual tourney in Redwood Valley on Feb. 9-10, where she pinned all three opponents in less than a minute.
