Report: Wild agree to four-year contract extension with Jake Middleton

Wild defender Jake Middleton has reportedly agreed to a contract extension with Minnesota, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.

Middleton's extension is a four-year, $17.4 million ($4.35 million AAV) deal. According to The Athletic's Michael Russo the deal will carry a limited no-trade clause.

Since joining Minnesota during the 2021-22 season, Middleton has registered 79 points (34 goals and 45 assists) in 180 games.

Middleton was a seventh-round pick by the Los Angeles Kings in 2014. Since making his NHL debut for the San Jose Sharks in 2018, Middleton has gone on to play in 289 games.

Russo stated that with Middleton now locked up long term, the Wild will attempt to lock down Calder Trophy runner-up Brock Faber. His potential contract extension is rumored to be in the ballpark of eight years and $64 million.

Middleton and Faber logged 802 five-on-five minutes together last season.
