Grand Island resident dies after crash on Highway 34 in York County
YORK — There were two fatal crashes on Highway 34 within 24 hours of each other at the start of the week in York County. "It's so horrible, we have had two fatality accidents within a 1/4 mile of each other in less than 24 hours," said Lieutenant Alex Hildebrand in a press release on the York County website.

Howard County honors native son
ST. PAUL — More than 30 years ago, folks in St. Paul decided to pay tribute to one of Howard County’s most famous sons. And Grover Cleveland Alexander Days was born. But just who was Grover Cleveland Alexander and what did he do to get a community celebration named after him? Well, he was an American Major League Baseball player who played from 1911 to 1930 for the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals. He was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1938, the only player elected that year. He is still considered one of the best pitchers in league history.

The Grand Island Area Coalition on Trafficking, also known as GI ACT, is holding a T-shirt design contest. “This is a fantastic opportunity for you to contribute to our mission of raising awareness about human trafficking. Hornady pleads not guilty to DUI, wants jury trial
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - An executive at a prominent Grand Island business says he’s not guilty of drunk and reckless driving. Court records show 54-year-old Jason Hornady is charged with first offense driving under the influence, second offense reckless driving, racing on a highway and speeding. Hornady’s attorney entered a written not guilty plea to all charges in Hall County Court and requested a jury trial. The trial is scheduled Sept. 16.
