Grand Island Community Fireworks Display Planning Tips
[GRAND ISLAND, NE July 1, 2024] The Grand Island Community Fireworks Display committee has updated information to help you prepare for this year’s fireworks display. New to many spectators is the addition of parking in the field across Stuhr Road, east of Fonner Park. Parking will be available in the “Luebbe Lot” after 8:30 p.m. on July 4. Due to the great vantage point, there is a new twist. The first 20 cars to that lot, that either show a donation receipt for $100 dated July 4 from the Greater Grand Island Community Foundation, or donate $100 at the gate, will receive VIP parking.
Grand Island Police looking into possible child abuse
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand Island Police are investigating a case of possible child abuse. Officers were called to CHI Health St. Francis for a belated child abuse call regarding a 3-month-old boy. The infant was transferred to Children’s Hospital in Omaha for further evaluation of a possible head injury.

Daniel R. “Dan” Gorecki, age 68, of Farwell, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 24, 2024, at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul. Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, June 28, 2024, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Farwell. The Reverends Vince Parsons, Richard Piontkowski, and Alex Borzych concelebrated the Mass. Burial was in the St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery near Farwell.
