Officers were called to CHI Health St. Francis for a belated child abuse call regarding a 3-month-old boy. The infant was transferred to Children’s Hospital in Omaha for further evaluation of a possible head injury.

Grand Island man sentenced for attempted sexual assault of teen
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — A Grand Island man charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl has been sentenced. According to Hall County District Court records, Esdras Estacuy Perez, 20, was sentenced Friday to two to eight years in prison on one count of attempted first-degree sexual assault. He was given credit for 220 days served.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, June 28, 2024, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Farwell. The Reverends Vince Parsons, Richard Piontkowski, and Alex Borzych concelebrated the Mass. Burial was in the St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery near Farwell.

GI Home Federal Falls In Mike Peterson Semi-Finals
(Lincoln, NE) - The Grand Island Home Federal baseball team would drop a one-run game in the Mike Peterson semi-finals vs Papillion Pinnacle Bank on Sunday afternoon with a final score of 7-6. GI would trail in the game 6-3 until the top of the 6th inning. A Haubold double to start the half-inning got GI off to a great start in the effort to tie the game. Verplank would ground out to advance Haubold to third base. Dinkleman would follow things up with an RBI single, a pitch then hit Sack, Barrientos then singled to center field bringing in another run to make it 6-5. The tying run would come off the bat of Gabe Ruiz on an RBI single to right field scoring Sack.
GI Home Federal Advances To Semi's Of Mike Peterson Tournament
(Lincoln, NE) - Two more wins for Grand Island Home Federal on Saturday in Lincoln advanced GI to a Sunday semi-final matchup vs Papillion Pinnacle Bank. First pitch is set for 11:00 am at Den Hartog Field. Grand Island would defeat Lincoln Northwest first 10-0 in five innings Saturday and then turn around and defeated Sioux Falls West 9-1 in five innings. Grand Island is now 23-7. The next broadcast on KRGI 1430/105.5 & krgi.com will be game two of a double header at Ryder Park on Wednesday, July 3rd at 2:30 pm as GI hosts Lincoln Pius X. The first game of the double header will start at Noon.
