Fayetteville police seek SUV; man dies after he’s hit while crossing road
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Police in Fayetteville released photos of an SUV they say was involved in a crash that killed a man crossing a road Thursday night. The deadly wreck was reported around 9:50 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Cliffdale and Bunce roads, according to a news release from the Fayetteville Police Department.
Name released of Fayetteville employee killed in ATV wreck Thursday
The identity of a city worker killed in an ATV accident Thursday morning was released by police Friday afternoon. Joseph Mial, 55, died after the all-terrain vehicle he was operating struck a fence around 6:30 a.m. at Fisher Road and Lakeway Drive, according to the Fayetteville Police Department. At the time of the accident, Mial was collecting trash, presumably for the city. The Police Department did not say what city department he worked for. Mial was pronounced dead at the scene. 2nd arrest after Fayetteville police involved in 3 drug raids in one day
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Police in Fayetteville Friday announced an arrest in the third drug raid that officers conducted in one day last week. On Thursday, officers revealed a man was arrested after two search warrants at two homes on July 18 led to the discovery of 815 grams of fentanyl, along with cocaine, and two guns, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.
Three Rivers Land Trust helps Patterson family protect 405-acre farm from development
Working with the Three Rivers Land Trust, the Patterson family has protected a large tract of land north of Harmony from development. Three Rivers Land Trust has worked with three separate landowners and their families over the years to conserve over 1,535 acres in this area. This effort began in 1999, with the protection of 640 acres of the Daltonia Plantation. In 2011, the Grose family conserved their adjacent farm which totaled over 490 acres. On July 26, the Patterson family added to that legacy by conserving an additional 405 acres.
Second new private school to open in Burlington next month
Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Burlington is launching a new private Christian school that will open for students in kindergarten through third grade on August 26. This marks the second new private Christian school that has recently announced plans to open in Burlington for the 2024-25 school year. GREENSBORO, N.C. — Former Greensboro Mayor Robbie Perkins told WFMY News 2 he's attempting to get his old job back. Perkins, who's been out of office since 2013, told WFMY News 2's Chad Silber he intends to run for office in 2025. "I've always thought my time as mayor in Greensboro was a precious time and something I really enjoyed," Perkins said.

A medical respite center for veterans and people without housing is coming to the city of Greensboro. The Servant Center is a Greensboro nonprofit that helps homeless and disabled individuals as well as veterans become independent.
