Previews: THIRD TIME'S A CHARM: A NIGHT OF ONE ACTS BY KENNEDY ENGASSER at The Studio@620
1 Review: Jobsite Theater's THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW at the Jaeb - 'Don't Dream It, Be It!'. The third time is definitely a charm for playwright Kennedy Engasser. Her third "Night of One Acts" is a delightful mix of comedy and drama, debuting at The Studio@620 on July 26 -27. Inspired by her deep involvement in her high school's theater program and her passion for one-act plays, Engasser has crafted a series of performances that promise to entertain and provoke thought.
It’s Thunderstorms-Lite Sunday, then more widespread rain during the week
SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Saturday storms were few, but still with a few downpours. Ward Lake, on the east side of Bradenton, picked up over an inch (1.14″), the east side of Sarasota almost a half inch (0.48″) while SRQ stayed dry. We’ll see a few isolated storms again Sunday. A large area of dust from the Sahara moves overhead today. That could give us a hazy overcast and thunderstorms might not be as widespread as they would be without the dry dust layer overhead, but we will still see some thunderstorm activity. Fortunately, the dust will keep the tropics quiet for several days. As the dust layer dissipates during the workweek, a small disturbance in the upper atmosphere moves over Florida. That disturbance could make afternoon and evening storms more widespread during the week ahead.
Rays 9 Yankees 1: Bombs away! (in the completely peaceful baseball sense)
All it takes is sharp defense, four home runs (two with runners on base!), and take-your-breath-away starting pitching, and you get a win. Even, dare I say, an easy win! (Or easy enough to give some rope to a few struggling relievers). Let’s start by giving a shout out to...
Scientists seek public help to prevent spread of invasive coral along Florida's coast
Scientists urge divers, recreational charters, residents and visitors exploring the waters of South Florida to look for an invasive soft coral species that has been reported on the nearby surrounding shores of Cuba. The invasive pulse corals, a species within the Xeniidae family, are native to the Indo-Pacific and the Red seas. Several species of pulse corals have been discovered growing outside their native range into Hawaii, Venezuela, Cuba and Puerto Rico. Pulse corals reproduce rapidly, including...

First baseman Yandy Díaz put on the restricted list by the Tampa Bay Rays, Curtis Mead recalled
NEW YORK (AP) — First baseman Yandy Díaz was put on the restricted list Saturday by the Tampa Bay Rays, who recalled infielder Curtis Mead from Triple-A Durham. Díaz had missed Friday’s 6-1 loss to the New York Yankees, the Rays’ first game after the All-Star break. Rays manager Kevin Cash said the move was made because of family personal reasons that did not qualify under the major league bereavement/family medical emergency list. Cash said the move was not disciplinary. “We’re taking it day to day,” Cash said. “Just hoping that we see him soon.” Díaz, 32, is hitting .273 with eight homers and 46 RBIs. He was a first time All-Star last year, when he batted an American League-leading .330 with 22 homers and 78 RBIs.
