    Ways to celebrate Pride in St. Pete with A/C

    Pride weekend turns St. Pete into a sweaty mass of rainbows each year, but extreme heat has made celebrating more dangerous.


    Why it matters: The St. Petersburg Fire Rescue and Orlando Health Bayfront have beefed up medical staffing and cooling stations along the parade route this year, urging partiers to watch for signs of heat exhaustion.

    By the numbers: SPFR provided first aid to more than 80 people during last year's Pride

    Weekend, the department said in a release.

    • More than half were treated for heat-related injuries, and nine attendees required transportation to a local hospital.

    Yes, but: There are plenty of indoor Pride celebrations to let your rainbow colors shine and stay cool.

    Pride Immersive Experience: Limited-Time Rainbow Activation : FloridaRAMA (formerly Fairgrounds St. Pete) hosts a colorful, family-friendly celebration of diversity and inclusivity in its exhibits all month long.

    • $22-27 (free for children under 4)

    " Big Gay Prom: The Musical ": Audience members are encouraged to wear prom outfits at this comedic romance performance.

    • 8pm tonight, Friday Saturday at Studio@620. $20.

    Pride Night at Vertical Ventures: Rock climb to a curated Pride playlist, try the rainbow route and a special black light bouldering session.

    • 6pm-Midnight Friday. $17-30 for a day pass.

    Drag in Love with Unity: See drag performances from Iman Holdridge, Jay Miah, Autumn V, Lady Liemont, Juno Vibranz and a special guest.

    • 7-9pm Friday at Catherine Hickman Theater in Gulfport. $25.

    VIP Pride Parade Party : The Museum of Fine Art hosts a cushy '70s hippy themed parade experience with AC, bathrooms, light bites and a full liquor open bar along the route.

    • Saturday 6-10pm. $135 ($150 day of). 21+.

    Still Dancing: A Night at the Gallery Pride Party : Celebrate dance music's queer roots and the career of NYC club culture legend Nicky Siano with performances from Austen van der Bleek, Jubilee and Yummy.

    • 9pm-3am Saturday at Mad Monk Collective's Graffiti Gallery. $20-25 in advance, $30 at the door. Free for members of the trans or drag communities.

    Get Nude 3: Nothing But Your Flag : Tampa Bay Black Lesbians host a post-parade Carnival-themed party. Dance to Soca, Afrobeats, Reggae, Hip-Hop & R&B in indoor and outdoor spaces with two bars and food trucks.

    • Wear upscale Carribean flag or Carnival-inspired attire.
    • 9pm-1am Saturday at NOVA 535. $15.

    Pride Wine Tasting : Bar Chinchilla's blind tasting, "Into the Wine, Not the Label," tests your love and knowledge of wine.

    • 6:30pm on June 27. $29

    Transtastic: Celebrate the trans, nonbinary, gender non-conforming, and gender-diverse community with art and music.

    • Guests will spend time in both indoor and outdoor spaces enjoying lite bites, a cash bar and community.
    • 6-9pm on June 28 at the Museum of Fine Arts. $50-100.
