PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A car collided with a power pole in Pinellas County overnight before the driver took off, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened near Oak Street Northeast and the Vantage Point Condominiums in St. Petersburg, just off Gandy Boulevard North.

Tropical wave has 70% chance of developing, NHC says

The driver reportedly struck the pole, before they fled on foot.

Duke Energy was at the scene, just after midnight on Thursday, and spent a few hours repairing the pole.
