    Fire Damages St. Petersburg Apartment Building

    ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – St. Petersburg Fire Rescue extinguished a blaze that ripped through a two-story apartment building on the 2700 block of 15th Avenue North yesterday evening at around 5:50 p.m.

    Firefighters arrived to a scene engulfed by heavy smoke and flames spewing from the rear of the structure.

    The fire extended to the ground floor and exterior stairs, prompting a second alarm for additional support.

    Crews battled the blaze through heavy rain and successfully contained the fire. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.

    Thankfully, all residents were safely evacuated before firefighters arrived. One homeowner and a caregiver were treated for minor injuries but were later released. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries reported.

    Firefighters will remain on-site to assist displaced residents with retrieving belongings. The American Red Cross is also responding to offer support to those affected by the fire.
