    Extraordinary defense of Rays’ Taylor Walls is a matter of routine

    ST. PETERSBURG — The doubts would strike Taylor Walls at the most vulnerable moments, like when he was lying on the ground after a ball had rolled just past him into the outfield.

    It had happened occasionally when he was playing shortstop at Florida State, but this was the pros — albeit the Rays team in the short-season New York-Penn League for players who had just been taken in the 2017 draft — and he hated that feeling even more.
