ST. PETERSBURG — Alex Jackson just tried to ignore it. The Rays catcher doesn’t look at the big video board in rightfield, where his anemic batting average is in huge bright lights. He keeps his head down and tries to imagine a good outcome.

Friday night, he found it in the Rays’ 2-0 win over the Guardians at Tropicana Field.

Jackson snapped an 0-for-26 skid with a fifth-inning double, his first extra-base hit since June 20 at Minnesota.

“Honestly, I was just trying to get a pitch to hit,” Jackson said.
