    Top things to do this week: Sunrise Sale, art exhibits and two musicals

    Sunrise Sale: The Downtown Business Association of St. Petersburg invites everyone to “St. Pete’s Largest Pajama Party.” As the sun rises, nearly 50 businesses will open their doors to pajama-clad shoppers for deals, discounts and other offers. Participating businesses will be located along and around Beach Drive in the downtown core, going west on Central and First avenues through the 600 block, out to the EDGE district and also along the Fourth Street corridor going north up to 22nd Avenue. Visitors are invited to gather at the 400 block of Beach Drive at 6:43 a.m. for the official kickoff with community leaders performing the traditional “cutting of the cake.” Thursday morning (July 18).     Cool Art Show: The Professional Association of Visual Artists’ 35th annual show features nearly 70 Florida artisans showcasing a range of visual and functional art, including paintings, woodwork, ceramics, photography, metalwork, glass art, fiber art, digital art, mixed media and jewelry. There will also be a “create your own masterpiece” area and art demonstrations. Free. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday (July 20), 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday (July 21).     Sunset Series: The Rhythm of the World: Water Street Tampa’s last Sunset Series event presents global dance, music and cuisine featuring local dancers.     The Rocky Horror Show: Straight-laced Brad Majors and Janet Weiss, stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter as they look for a phone to call for help. They encounter a castle full of wild characters. Costumes encouraged and prop bags available for purchase.     Cinema in the Cellar: Grab a beer and go to the cellar for a screening of Steven Spielberg’s 1975 summer thriller “Jaws” (PG).     Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival Monthly Film Series: This month, board member Marisa Quaresimo has selected “Imagine Me & You” (R, 90 minutes), a movie about a newlywed bride who becomes infatuated with another woman who questions her sexual orientation, promoting a stir among the bride’s family and friends. $12, $10 seniors/students. 3 p.m. Sunday (July 21).     Al Downing Honors at the Palladium: The Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association Board of Directors presents the inaugural Al Downing Honors at the Palladium in celebration of Al Downing Day. Alvin Joseph Downing (1916-2000) was a jazz music icon, Tuskegee Airman and professor of music at Gibbs High School and St. Petersburg College. He was known as the Ambassador of Jazz by the Clearwater Jazz Holiday Foundation. Dierdre Downing-Jackson serves as host for this event, which pays tribute to individuals who have encouraged the understanding and appreciation of jazz in the Tampa Bay area. $35-$50, $10 students. 3 p.m. Sunday (July 21).
