Rays reportedly open to trading star outfielder at deadline

With their season slipping away, the Tampa Bay Rays are reportedly open to trading one of their biggest stars at the deadline.

According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network , the Rays are listening to offers on star outfielder Randy Arozarena, along with All-Star Isaac Paredes and catcher Yandy Diaz.

It's not a guarantee the Rays sell any of these players at the deadline, but they reportedly aren't against moving them in the right deal.

The 29-year-old Arozarena has struggled in 2024. His 93 OPS+ is well below his 121 career average, and he comes out of the All-Star break with a .202 average, 12 home runs and 31 RBI.

Morosi mentioned the Seattle Mariners as a potential landing spot considering their interest in adding an impact bat.

With a 48-48 record coming out of the break, it's unlikely the Rays will find themselves in playoff contention unless they go on a massive run during the second half.

So this will be something to monitor over the next two weeks as the deadline approaches.
