Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church will sponsor an American Red Cross blood drive Aug. 21, according to a church release. “The air-conditioned church features a first floor accessible facility and will serve snacks and juices after donation,” the release reads.

To Unveil Tablet On Historic Spot — McConnellsburg — The site of Fort Littleton, marking the advance of civilization in the frontier days, has now been marked by the Pennsylvania Historical Commission and the Fulton County Historical Society with a tall boulder to which is attached an inscribed oblong bronze tablet. The unveiling of the boulder and its tablet will take place at the site on Saturday afternoon. Thousands of people are expected to attend.

James Harrison Rickard James Harrison Rickard, 96, dubbed the “Sweetest Lil’ Feller Everybody Knows”, peacefully departed this earth on Sunday, July 21, 2024. A proud lifelong Berkeley County, WV resident, he was born on January 3, 1928, in Hedgesville to the late Anna Mary and William Harrison Rickard. He was well known to friends, family, and the community for his vibrant personality. He was a member of Hedgesville United Methodist Church.

Finding the barn was the best thing that ever happened to me. For years, I wandered the fields and streets and towns and when I first stumbled upon the big red barn, I hesitated. I’ve been around enough people to know that not all of them are friendly toward cats. I watched for a while from the perimeter and saw how nice the man was to his horses and his dogs and there were even some other cats already there.

Annis Elizabeth (Kingston-Mitchell) Skipper, 87, formerly of Mapleton, went to be with the Lord at 5:59 a.m. Monday, July 22, 2024, at Embassy at Woodland Park in Orbisonia. Born, Nov. 25, 1936, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Andrew and Dorothy Cora (Simpson) Kingston. Annis was twice married, first to Dean M. Mitchell of Duncansville, who passed away May 31, 1990; then to Thomas W. Skipper Nov. 27, 1991, in Fredericksburg, Maryland. He preceded her in death March 5, 2006.
