State police: 2 teens seriously injured in Clarke County crash
An 18-year-old from Hedgesville, W.Va., was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning on Va. 7 in eastern Clarke County, according to Virginia State Police. Ethan L. Powell was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital after the 2006 Lincoln Zephyr he was driving westbound on Va. 7 near Gordons Ridge Lane ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, ran off the left side of the road into the median and overturned several times, state police spokesman Sgt. Brent Coffey wrote in a Friday media release.
Sentinel police log for July 26
Newville Police (717-776-5513) Police said they cited a Texas truck driver after a scattering rubbish complaint on July 20. Police learned that the truck driver had discarded a mattress on July 18 at the Community Aid bin on West Street. Police say they have received many complaints about people placing items outside of the bins in the borough, and they warn that people who do so will be cited with a summary charge. Police said Community Aid bins are for clothing and shoes only, and other items must be dropped off at one of the organization's locations.

Christopher Van Johnson, 36, of Baltimore, Maryland, received seven consecutive life sentences on July 17, 2024, for his involvement in the murders of three individuals on June 25, 2016, in Mercersburg, Franklin County. U.S. District Court Judge Christopher C. Conner also imposed concurrent 10, 20, and 30-year terms for related robbery, firearms, and conspiracy charges.

22 July 2024- The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced today that Christopher Van Johnson, age 36, of Baltimore, Maryland, was sentenced on July 17, 2024, to 7 consecutive life sentences for his role in the June 25, 2016 murders of three individuals in Mercersburg, Franklin County, one of whom was cooperating with state and federal drug investigators. The sentence was imposed by United States District Court Judge Christopher C. Conner, who also sentenced to concurrent 10, 20, and 30-year terms of imprisonment on companion robbery, firearms, and conspiracy charges.

Nina Fegan, 77, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on July 21, 2024 at her home. Born May 10, 1947, she was a daughter of the late James E. Fegan, Sr. and Margaret Eckels Fegan. Nina was a 1965 graduate of CASHS. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Nursing School in Lancaster, PA as a Registered Nurse. Nina served as a Sister of St. Joseph’s for 15 years in the Philadelphia area. Hagerstown man charged in recent double shooting that left one dead
Hagerstown Police have arrested one of two suspects in last Thursday's fatal shooting near downtown Hagerstown, according to court documents.
