SALAMANCA, NY — It’s not often that two teams combine for more runs than hits, but that is what happened Sunday night in Salamanca.

The Oilers were dominated by the Lizards, who scored more runs than the Oilers had base runners. With a total of eight base runners for the entire game, the Oilers fell to the Lizards 11-1. The game was stopped in the eighth inning because of the 10-run mercy rule.

The Oilers struggled to produce any offense against the Lizards' Josh Martos, who only allowed three hits, three walks and two hit-batters over the eight innings.

Oilers pitchers struggled to find the strike zone. Four pitchers combined to allow just seven hits but walked 14 batters and hit four others.

Pitcher Matt Marsh suffered his first loss of the season, allowing six runs off four hits, walking five and hitting two batters.

The Oilers are home on Tuesday for their final regular season home game, which is against the Dansville Gliders. It is the team's fan appreciation game, and admission is free. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
