One person dead in late-night shooting in East Albany
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Albany Police Department (APD) is investigating a homicide that happened late Wednesday night in the 1200 block of Swift Avenue. Tavis Bemond Griffin, 29, was found with multiple gunshot wounds around 11:30 p.m., according to Dougherty County Coroner Michael Fowler. Griffin was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital where he later died.
Wiregrass announces CDL Sign-Up Day at Coffee Campus
Wiregrass Georgia Technical College will be hosting a Sign-Up Commercial Truck Driving Day on the Coffee Campus on Thursday, July 25. Classes will begin on August 12. This event will help applicants to complete the steps for applying for the program. A representative from the college’s One-Stop will assist applicants in registering for class, completing CDL Clearing House, Financial Aid application, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) application, and DOT physical information. CDL applicants will also have their application fee waived on this day on the Coffee Campus when they apply.
Teen arrested following break-in at Cordele vape shop
CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) - A teen was arrested following a break-in at Cloud Vapor in Cordele early Wednesday morning. Just after 4 a.m., officers with the Cordele Police Department (CPD) responded to an alarm at Cloud Vapor. Once they arrived at the scene, they found a large portion of the storefront glass busted out and merchandise scattered on the ground, according to police.
