    Stash of fentanyl and cocaine found inside mom’s house in Salem

    BOSTON (WWLP) – A man from Salem was sentenced to prison after over 74,000 counterfeit prescription pills were found during a drug trafficking investigation in 2018.

    According to the Department of Justice in Boston, 25-year-old Kion Shepherd was among 23 people in Massachusetts who have been charged in connection with manufacturing and distributing thousands of counterfeit prescription pills containing deadly narcotics. They were arrested in 2018 after an investigation identified brothers Lawrence Michael Nagle and Christopher Nagle as leaders of a drug trafficking organization (DTO) throughout the North Shore region of Massachusetts.

    Police seized over 74,000 counterfeit Adderall pills containing methamphetamine, weighing more than 24 kilograms; 591 counterfeit Adderall pills containing methamphetamine; 1,000 counterfeit Oxycodone pills containing fentanyl; and 101 counterfeit Oxycodone pills containing fentanyl.

    During the investigation, Shepherd’s mother’s home was identified as his residence as well as his stash location for controlled substances. During a search of Shepherd’s mother’s residence, a backpack containing several hundred grams of fentanyl and cocaine as well as a handgun was recovered.

    On Thursday, Shepherd was sentenced to 70 months in prison and three years of supervised release. He is the fourth defendant to be sentenced in the case.
