SALEM, Ohio (WKBN) – Making a quilt takes time but it’s usually a masterpiece. The art, beauty and creativity of quilts are on display in Salem for the United Quilt Guild Show, which is held every two years.

The Best of Show was the Celestial Stars quilt by Joanne Fox. It also got a blue ribbon in the machine quilting category.

There are 110 quilts on display this year. Judges looked at every one and picked winners in 15 categories.

“They’re very talented ladies. They’ve been experienced quilters for a number of years. Each of them has a different technique and I’ve learned just from looking at their techniques, processes that I would like to try,” said Cynthia Freeman, with the United Quilt Guild.

There is one quilt on display made by a man — be sure to check out Mr. Fancypants.

You can still see the quilts Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Salem Centerplex.

Proceeds from the show are benefitting the nonprofit Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
