Upstate man arrested after sexual assault report at hospital

An Upstate man arrested on child sex crime charges.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 27-year-old Roger Lewis Bryant of Salem Thursday afternoon after a reported sexual assault at a local hospital.

A deputy responded to the Oconee Memorial Hospital earlier this month. After speaking with a family member, an investigation was launched and turned over to the Criminal Investigations Bureau.

Investigators identified Bryant as a person of interest and say he touched the victim, a child, in an inappropriate and sexual manner.

Bryant is currently being held in the Oconee County Detention Center on a $100,000 surety bond on charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor – 2nd Degree.

The investigation is still ongoing.
