ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) — For the beginning of the week, high pressure will build across Southwest and Central Virginia. Expect warm, dry, and less humid conditions for the next few days.

A bit of patchy fog is possible on Monday morning. Otherwise, skies will become mostly sunny with temperatures rising into the upper 70s and lower/middle 80s. Due to the drier air behind Sunday’s cold front, it won’t be as humid outside.

The mainly dry weather will continue into Tuesday with mostly clear skies overhead. Morning temperatures will start in the cool 50s before reaching the upper 70s and lower/middle 80s by the afternoon.

Hotter temperatures will return as we approach the Fourth of July. Wednesday will be mostly dry with morning lows in the 50s and lower 60s. However, afternoon highs will reach the middle/upper 80s and lower 90s under mostly to partly sunny skies. Humidity levels will begin to creep upward. If you’re heading to the Salem Fair’s opening day, put on sunscreen and drink plenty of water. Stay cool as best as you can!

The Fourth of July looks hot and humid. By the afternoon, temperatures will warm into the upper 80s and 90s. The muggy air will make it feel a few degrees hotter. A disturbance to the north may bring scattered showers and storms to Southwest and Central Virginia during the afternoon and evening.

The hot and unsettled pattern will persist into the weekend. For Friday through Sunday, morning temperatures will generally be in the upper 60s and 70s while afternoon highs will be in the upper 80s and 90s. Scattered hit-or-miss showers and storms are possible each day, especially during the afternoon and early evening.
