Storms and rain showers on Independence Day
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Good Morning NCWV! We woke up this morning to some rather calm weather with only some cloud coverage across our area! Now, we are continuing this warming trend for today with high temperatures in the lowlands getting into the low 90s in the lowlands and the low 80s in the higher elevations. Unfortunately for us, this frontal system that is on it’s way isn’t going to help us out very much at all. As frontal system weakens and stalls over us our high temperatures will not drop significantly, only getting down to the mid 80s in the lowlands and the mid to high 70s in the higher elevations. Rain showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout most of the day on Independence Day. These thunderstorms aren’t expected to be as severe as some of the previous storms we have seen with the only severe threat being damaging winds, with wind gusts getting up to 35 MPH in the more mountainous regions and up to 25MPH in the lowlands. However rain showers are expected to be heavy at points throughout Thursday with the total amount of rainfall being up to 1 inch. This trend will continue into Friday where we will see these storms and rain showers scattered throughout the day. Unfortunately, our temperatures will bounce back into the high 80s in the lowlands and the low 80s in the higher elevations and with that and the increase in humidity from all of this rainfall, heat indexes are forecasted to be near that 100° mark once again as we exit the work week. Daniel Niemasz has all of this and more on your First Alert Forecast.
