People looking for a unique experience — including music, food, drinks and even live paintings by Kansas artists — can join several generations Saturday at the R&B VIBES event.

Created by Salina's own Cash Hollistah and returning for the third time, R&B VIBES will take place from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. beginning on Saturday, July 27, at The Venue, 638 Francis St.

VIBES, described as an "intergenerational celebration of R&B and soul music," will feature songs from all eras and will include sing-alongs, anthems, remixes and slow jams courtesy of Hollistah and Wichita-based DJ Detroit, DJ Fluid and DJ4theWin.

Live painting from Salina native at R&B VIBES

In addition to the music, R&B VIBES III will also feature live paintings from Chauntéa Grissom, of Hutchinson, and Tayshaw Long-Nail, a Salina native now based in Wichita.

Hollistah said Long-Nail is an up-and-coming artist who offers custom painted portraits and has amassed "a bit of a following" on TikTok and Instagram . Her work has even found its way into the homes of Grammy-nominated rapper GloRilla and YouTuber D'Aydrian Harding.

Long-Nail and Grissom will be painting throughout the night with both pieces raffled off. Raffle entries are $3 a ticket.

What else to expect at an R&B VIBES event

Hollistah said those coming to R&B VIBES for the first time are in for an experience unlike anything they've been to.

"R&B VIBES is unique in that it is one of the few non-concert type events where you see '70s babies, '80s and '90s babies and early 2000s babies, fans of one genre, under one roof, singing their hearts out," he said. "From Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire and The Isley Brothers to Boyz II Men and Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey to Bruno Mars, Janet Jackson to Bryson Tiller, we take you on a ride."

While the event is centered around music, there will also local food to feast on, with Nesha's Kitchen providing a free buffet for the evening and a special menu for VIP patrons. Additionally, Tacos el Cora and Sam's Southern Eatery will be on hand with food trucks.

There will also be themed and original drinks, including themed shots available at the cash bar and an outdoor beer garden. Finally, there will be an oxygen bar provided by ILift Bodyworks and Sculpting.
