Free Ice Cream and Great Music in Dexter
The Dexter Lions Club and Dexter Creamery have been teaming up this summer to bring free ice cream to the Music in the Park events. Over the past couple of months, the Dexter Lions has served free ice cream from the Creamery on Friday nights during the Summer Concert Series. They will be doing it one more time on Aug. 30. Music in the Park is presented by the Dexter Area Chamber of Commerce.
In it’s 71st year, Manchester Chicken Broil still draws large crowds
MANCHESTER, MI – Crowds of people, plates of chicken and plenty of smiles made up the 71st annual Manchester Chicken Broil on Saturday. The popular event July 20 at Alumni Memorial Field, brought together around 8,000 thousand people as roughly 400 volunteers made 10,000 dinners to raise money to update the field’s facilities and buildings.

OT - Championship booze in AA
I was in Ann Arbor over the weekend and stopped in at a couple liquor stores to see if they had any of the etched championship booze bottles. They had plenty of the etched bottles at Campus Corner there at Packard/State St... all of them. They had the National Championship bottle, the Rose Bowl, and the back to back to back Big 10. They even had them in the smaller pint bottles. They had some with a different design with a wolverine on the Gentleman Jack.

After all the ballots were counted and the last cone consumed, local favorite, Cups and Cones Ice Cream Parlor, was selected as the top spot for scoops, garnering 36.7% (7,254) of the vote and running away with the competition.
