Manchester Hooters Locale Closes After Nearly 20 Years
The restaurant, located in the Hartford County town of Manchester at 1483 Pleasant Valley Rd., announced its closure on social media on Monday, July 1. In its closing announcement, the owners of the Hooters branch said it was a "difficult decision" to shutter the eatery, which has been open for almost 20 years.
Six Named to Trinity College’s Board of Trustees
President Joanne Berger-Sweeney announced the appointment of six new trustees to the Trinity College Board of Trustees. They officially begin their terms on July 1, 2024. All the new trustees are alumni, and three are the parents of alumni. Pastor of church in Woodbury accused of having illegal weapon as a convicted felon
A pastor of a church in Woodbury is accused of having an illegal weapon as a convicted felon and has been arrested. Plymouth police received a complaint from a State of Connecticut Department of Parole on June 20. Investigators said a parole officer learned that a convicted felon, later identified as 67-year-old Peter P. Ventura Jr., of Terryville, may be in possession of a gun. Ventura Jr. is the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Woodbury.

First responders save woman, dog who fell over embankment
Local first responders rescued a woman and her dog who had fallen over an embankment near a scenic overlook on Sheshequin Road south of Athens on Tuesday. According to the Bradford County Department of Public Safety, the 911 call came in at around 11:30 a.m.. When first responders arrived, they determined that the embankment was steep and additional resources were requested.
