GREENSBORO, NC — Livingstone College, a historic HBCU in Salisbury, NC, announced it has recently received a transformative $10 million donation from an anonymous benefactor. This latest contribution brings the total donations from this donor to $17 million in just six months, marking a significant milestone in the college’s history. The announcement was made by Dr. Anthony J. Davis, President of Livingstone College, who expressed his gratitude and outlined the impact of this generous gift.

“This is an incredible moment for Livingstone College,” said Dr. Davis. “Our anonymous donor has truly believed in our mission and the transformative power of education. This $10 million donation will ensure that we can complete phase one of our construction projects and move directly into phase two, all from a debt-free position.”

Davis made his announcement at the 52nd Quadrennial Session of A.M.E. Zion Church’s General Session at the Greater Columbus Convention Center (GCCC) in Greensboro, NC.

The $10 million donation will significantly advance the college’s construction projects, ensuring that phase one can be completed and phase two can commence without incurring debt. This aligns with the college’s goal to improve living conditions for students and attract top scholars to its campus. Dr. Davis highlighted the success of Livingstone College in changing its ecosystem and elevating its academic profile, boasting an incoming class of 114 presidential scholars with GPAs between 3.7 and 4.0, and another 85 students with GPAs between 3.0 and 3.6.

Previously, Livingstone College received multiple $1 million donations from the same anonymous donor, which have been instrumental in supporting various campus projects and initiatives. The first donation was received during the college’s homecoming celebrations, and subsequent contributions followed during key events, reflecting the donor’s ongoing commitment to the institution’s growth and success.

Dr. Davis called on alumni and friends of the HBCU to contribute in any capacity they can, emphasizing that every donation helps expedite the college’s progress and overcome years of deferred maintenance. He encouraged the community to support Livingstone College and be part of its transformative journey.

“You might not be able to do a million. This is not time to put your hands in your pocket,” Davis said. “Well, it is time to put your hands in your pocket and make a contribution to Livingstone College. Do your part. Do the best that you can and you will help us expedite this “Miracle on Monroe Street.”
