One killed in Friday morning crash on Hwy. 152 West

MOORESVILLE — A 21-year-old woman is dead after a large utility truck hit her Mercedes-Benz while she was allegedly stopped at an intersection about 11:40 a.m. Friday.

The identity of the woman has not yet been released pending notification of family. The driver of the truck was reportedly not injured.

According to the witness, who asked not to be named, the truck was traveling east on 152 behind another vehicle that was turning left into a gravel drive across from Teeter Road. The truck went to the right around the turning vehicle and crashed into the Mercedes which was stopped on Teeter Road waiting to turn onto 152.

The crash caused the westbound side of 152 to be closed for more than an hour.

N.C. State Highway Patrol was on the scene investigating, and confirmed that the driver of the truck was unable to stop for a car slowing to turn, and instead swerved right and hit the Mercedes. The driver of the truck has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to maintain proper lane.
