    Free admission for active duty military families at NC Museum of Dolls, Toys & Miniatures ends Labor Day

    SPENCER — The NC Museum of Dolls , Toys & Miniatures (NCMDTM) has announced its continued participation in the Blue Star Museums program, offering free admission to all active duty military families through Labor Day, Sept. 2. This marks the museum ‘s second year of involvement in this nationwide initiative, which is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and museums across America.

    Active duty service members from the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, Space Force, as well as members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, and NOAA Commissioned Corps, along with up to five family members, are eligible for free admission by presenting appropriate identification. Accepted forms of ID include the Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), DD Form 1173-1 ID card, or the Next Generation Uniformed Services (Real) ID card.

    “We are honored to participate in the Blue Star Museums program once again,” said Beth Nance, executive director of NCMDTM. “This initiative allows us to give back to the military community by providing them with enriching experiences that connect them with our local culture and history.”

    The Blue Star Museums program, now in its 14th summer, includes over 2,000 participating museums nationwide. The N.C. Museum of Dolls , Toys & Miniatures is proud to be the only museum in Rowan County to take part in this program. A full list of participating museums can be found at arts.gov/bluestarmuseums .

    Located at 108 4th Street in Spencer, the NCMDTM is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Military families are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity before it concludes on Labor Day. For more information, go to ncmdtm.org or call 704-762-9359.
