The Sundance Film Festival's Local Lens program is back , offering five days of free indoor and outdoor movie screenings selected from films that originally premiered at the festival.

State of play: The slate of movies that will show July 17-21 was chosen with Utah audiences in mind, according to Basil Tsiokos, senior programmer at the Sundance Film Festival.

    • It's the second year in a row that the free flicks are being screened in West Valley City, one of the most racially diverse cities in the state.

What they're saying: "We're trying to remove as many barriers as possible to really let local Utah audiences see what Sundance is all about," Tsiokos tells Axios. "It's important to be able to sort of give back to the community."

Context: Movies range from documentaries to dramas and horror.

    • While the screenings are free, you are encouraged to RSVP . Seating is first-come, first-served.

July 17: "Skywalkers: A Love Story" at Red Butte Garden Amphitheater in Salt Lake City at 9pm
