The Memphis Grizzlies lost a physical matchup against the Utah Jazz to open 2024 Summer League action on Monday night (7/8). Final/OT: Utah Jazz 97 Memphis Grizzlies 95.

The Jazz, playing in front of their home town crowd, featured third-year big Walker Kessler and a 30-piece from their second-year guard Keyonte George. Utah won in overtime hitting a "target score" of 97 points.

Rookies Zach Edey and Cam Spencer showed serious promise as early contributors. Edey was possibly the best player on the court for Memphis in his debut dropping a double-double 14 points and 15 rebounds. Edey's tip at the buzzer in regulation off a missed Jake LaRavia free throw sent the game to overtime.

Spencer finished +4 with 11 points on 3-of-5 from shooting from the 3-point arc with a sharp looking long-range jumper as advertised.

The Memphis Grizzlies take on the Philadelphia 76ers Tuesday (7/9/24) at 6:00 p.m. Full coverage of the Grizzlies all day on 92.9 FM ESPN.
