Don't snooze on this downtown cevicheria this summer

I don't have many regrets. However, one I'll carry for the rest of my life is not going to La Cevichería in downtown Salt Lake City sooner.

State of play: I must have driven past the Mexican-style seafood restaurant dozens of times over the years before I finally dined there this week.

What I tried: The fish ceviche ($20.99) came in a giant rectangular molcajete served with freshly sliced avocado and petite Mexican tostadas.

    • The colorful medley of lime-infused fish, cucumbers, red onions, tomatoes, and cilantro delivered a refreshing dish to help endure the summer heat.
    • For those who aren't into raw fish, the menu offers street tacos, shrimp empanadas, and sauteed fish.

Tip: Ceviche pairs the best with an ice-cold beverage like a Mexican Coke or Modelo.

If you go: Open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11am to 9pm; Thursdays and Fridays from 11am to 11pm; Saturdays noon to 11pm, and Sundays noon to 10pm.
