    Theft suspect boards TRAX train to escape police, UTA says

    SALT LAKE CITY ( ABC4 ) — The Utah Transit Authority issued an alert of a delayed train caused by police activity Friday evening.

    TRAX riders can expect a 15- to 25-minute delay going southbound on the Green Line from the SLC Airport to Gallivan Plaza, according to UTA. Travelers can also expect a 15- to 25-minute delay southbound on the Green Line from Power to River Trail.

    This incident was caused due to the police pursuit of a theft suspect, UTA said. The suspect reportedly got onto the train to escape police.

    Officers boarded the train at the same time and were able to detain the suspect. This incident caused delays as authorities had to stop the train to remove the suspect.

    Details on the theft have not been released at this time.
