The Sandhurst Fire burning near Ensign Peak in Salt Lake City has grown to approximately 400 acres, with evacuation orders still in place for several nearby homes.

Although there is zero containment of the fire, officials say its growth had slowed Sunday morning.

Watch below as officials give fire update Sunday morning:

As of Sunday, around 40 houses remain evacuated, with the fire about a half-mile away. Residents might have the chance to return to their homes to grab needed items later in the day.

The wildfire broke out Saturday afternoon near Ensign Peak, a popular location overlooking the city above the Utah State Capitol. Late Saturday, the fire was also threatening radio towers on the mountain, which remains a concern.

The fire was human-caused, but the exact cause remains under investigation.

Salt Lake City Police said mandatory evacuations have been ordered for homes north of Dorchester Drive on Sandhurst Drive, as well as Twickenham Drive. Voluntary evacuations are also in place for homes north of Ensign Vista on East Capitol Boulevard.

The Utah State Capitol building is open to evacuees, according to SLCPD.

City Creek Canyon is closed to the public, but Memory Grove Park has reopened. Tunnel Springs Park in North Salt Lake is currently closed as it is being used as a staging ground for fire crews and helicopters.
