Deadpan Sandwich opens its first brick-and-mortar shop Friday in Salt Lake City's Sugar House neighborhood.
State of play: The fast-casual eatery that serves creative sandwiches opened its first location in Woodbine Food Hall in 2022.
- Now, the eatery you can visit them at Izzy Apartments (556 E. 2100 S.)
The intrigue: The sandwich shop drew buzz last November when it announced it would close after operating for just over a year in the up-and-coming Granary District.
Yes, but: The business avoided shutting down after seeing "unwavering support."
Between the lines: In the short time it's been open, it has been deemed one of the best sandwich shops in Utah by the food magazine Gastronomic.
What they're saying: "With the success of our first location in Woodbine Food Hall, we're humbled and excited to be welcomed by Sugar House," Taylor Giullian, co-founder and head chef, said in a statement.
What's inside: The menu offers its own spin on classic sandwiches: there's a B.L.O.T. featuring bacon, lettuce, onion jam, pickled green tomato and pepper-mayo, and a hot chopped cheese made with a merguez patty, onion, tomato, cheese, bread and butter pickles, lettuce and mayo.
- Sandwiches range from $8-$15.
