The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, in North Merrick. According to the Nassau County Arson/Bomb Squad, James Luca, age 46, of North Merrick, ignited an explosive device and threw it onto the hood of a female victim’s car, located in the driveway of her Sherman Avenue home.

Governor Kathy Hochul has announced a $2 million grant to the Patchogue Arts Council (PAC) for the construction of a new, multi-disciplinary, cultural arts center on Main Street in East Patchogue. This $3.5 million project is part of a broader $47 million downtown revitalization effort to redevelop the former Mediterranean Manor site into housing.
