Raymond Corporation among those competing for title of "Coolest Thing Made in New York"
For the next two months businesses from all across New York state are competing to see who makes the coolest thing, and there are several contenders for the crown in our region. One of the applicants selected for voting is the Raymond Corporation, an industry-leading forklift manufacturer, based in Greene.

The Oak Ridge Boys, the legendary country / gospel band, have had a tough 2023 and 2024. Longtime members Duane Allen, who joined in 1966; William Lee, who joined in 1965; and Richard Sterban, who joined in 1972, were set to celebrate 50 years of performing together with Joe Bonsall, who joined in 1973. Unfortunately late last year Bonsall had to leave behind his touring days and begin his well-deserved retirement. He sadly died earlier this summer, but his memories live on thanks to the enthralling music he and the Boys created over the years.

DEC: New Yorkers Need To Check Pools And Trees For Invasive Beetle
The New York State DEC told New Yorkers to be on the lookout in pools and trees for an invasive insect that attacks and kills maple and other hardwood trees. According to the DEC, the Asian longhorned beetle, or 'ALB,' is "an invasive wood-boring insect that feeds on a variety of hardwoods, including maple, birch, elm, ash, poplar, horse chestnut, and willow."

(The Center Square) – Defense attorneys for former President Donald Trump want to use a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision to overturn his New York hush money trial conviction. Prosecutors from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office told Judge Juan Merchan that the ruling from the nation's highest court is unrelated to his conviction on charges that he illegally paid hush money to keep women quiet about alleged sexual encounters and then covered up the payments as legal expenses during his 2016 campaign. ...
Catskills man ticketed after killing rattlesnake with BB gun, skinning and eating it
New York State Department of Environmental Conservation police officers (ECOs) recently ticketed a Catskills man for killing a timber rattlesnake. ECOs Doig and Osborne received an anonymous tip on July 4 that a man in Hancock had intentionally killed a timber rattlesnake. Their investigation revealed that the man had also skinned and butchered the snake with the intention of eating it.
