    You know very well it can be irritating to deal with insects, especially mosquitoes. They can plague you with itchy welts and may make you not want to sleep at night. These bugs are everywhere in Illinois.

    Mosquitoes are not only irritating but also dangerous because they can cause different diseases. The major ones are dengue, malaria, Zika virus, Chikungunya virus, and West Nile virus.

    According to the University of Illinois' Division of Research Safety, Illinois is one of those states where the mosquito season begins in the spring and remains throughout the autumn. It means you shouldn't be surprised when you see these bugs entering your house and creating a mess for everyone.

    It is worth mentioning that there are two main types of mosquitoes plaguing citizens. They are floodwater mosquitoes and vector mosquitoes. Floodwater mosquitoes usually appear when heavy rains begin and can be a major problem for you for some weeks. On the other hand, vector mosquitoes lay eggs in ponds and stagnant ditches. They carry diseases and their eggs are capable of hatching within days.

    1. You should always wear gloves and cover your face and other external parts of the body with soft clothes, especially when you are going outside or are sleeping at night.
    2. Different insect repellants can be used to get rid of mosquitoes.
    3. You should keep your surrounding area clean. Make sure there is no pond of water and try removing standing dirty water.
    4. Keep your yard and garden area absolutely clean, 24/7.
