Autism Awareness Month - How can Autism Program of Illinois help you improve your life?

April is Autism Awareness Month. Throughout this month, organizations and people across the United States arrange events to help local communities know what autism is and how and why it should be avoided. The first National Autism Awareness Month took place in April 1970, and since then, this month is celebrated with the aim to reduce the number of autistic people.

Identify people with autism around you

Autistic people show the following signs.

1. They are unable to communicate well.
2. They fail to understand why people think and react differently.
3. They avoid going out or in areas where there is so much light and noise.
4. They get upset about uncertain events and situations.
5. They do certain things and keep repeating them without worrying about the effects on other people.

How does the state want to change lives through the Autism Program of Illinois?

The Autism Program of Illinois is a unique program that aims to provide needed support and help to people with autism. Ten organizations and five different universities provide specific services through this program. Together, they operate over 15 centers across Illinois and try to educate kids, parents, families, and care providers.

The program is, no doubt, worth it because it serves and offers free support to individuals with autism. Also, their families are assisted and coordinated so that a healthier community of people can be created.
