Sampson County Schools held its annual custodial meeting at Midway High School on Tuesday. Custodians throughout the county met with representatives from Sampson County Schools Plant Operations Department to receive training and to discuss procedures and issues related to their job. Jostens donated $1,000 to purchase door prizes for the event, as they have done for many years. Representatives from various vendors were present to speak to the custodians and do Q&A sessions. Also, James Farley with the Office of the State Fire Marshal was in attendance and gave an informative presentation on safety of the buildings. Leonard Henry was the guest speaker, and as always, gave a motivational speech to help encourage teamwork amongst school staff. Lori Willis, the Dance & Theater teacher at Midway High School, coordinated some special entertainment for the group to enjoy. Lunch was provided by Southern Style BBQ & Chicken. ‘Sampson County Schools Plant Operations Department is extremely appreciative of the hard work done by the custodians on a daily basis,’ said Maria Rose, plant operations manager for Sampson County Schools. ‘We realize that their jobs often require more than just the cleanliness of the schools. They are called upon for many important duties and are often the gatekeepers of the schools.’
