Union, Lakewood ousted

The Union Lady Spartans lost a heartbreaker to Vance Charter in the 16-17 first round matchup on Monday, falling 1-0 at home to end their season.

With the win, Vance Charter was poised to play the winner between top-seeded Voyager Academy and No. 32-seeded Southern Wake Academy. Union finishes the 2024 season at 11-8 overall, with a 7-4 conference record.

The Lakewood Lady Leopards hit the road Monday as a No. 30 seed to play No. 3-seeded Lejeune and was beat handily 9-0, bringing Lakewood’s season to a close.

It was a daunting task for a Leopards team that went winless for the 2024 season, searching for its first victory against a Devil Pups team that went 13-1-1, including 6-1-1 in conference. Lakewood finishes the regular season 0-18.
