DPS Reminds Texans of Vehicle Safety Inspection Changes
AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Department of Public Safety reminded Texans this week of upcoming changes to the state’s Vehicle Safety Inspection Program that will eliminate most inspections. House Bill 3297, which was passed by the 88th Legislature and signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott in 2023, abolishes the Vehicle Safety Inspection Program for non-commercial vehicles. Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender Captured in Wyoming
AUSTIN, TX – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) announced that a Texas 10 Most Wanted sex offender is back in custody following his recent arrest. Authorities arrested Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender Ramiro Dominguez on June 27 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Dominguez was DPS’ Featured Fugitive in June 2024, and a Crime Stoppers reward will be paid for his arrest. Learn More Here.
DPS Says Put Safety First During 4th of July
AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is stepping up enforcement efforts for the Fourth of July holiday to keep everyone safe on the roads, including Operation Crash Awareness Reduction Effort (CARE), which runs July 3-7. Operation CARE is a specialized campaign in which Texas Highway Patrol Troopers patrol for drivers who are speeding, intoxicated, not complying with Texas’ Move Over, Slow Down law, or violating other laws. Tom Green County Sheriff's Office Welcomes 2 New Deputies
SAN ANGELO, TX — With the addition of two deputies Wednesday, July 3, the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office is fully staffed for the first time in 16 years. Ryan DeLaCruz, 25, from San Angelo, and Ida Rodriguez, 21, from Ozona, were sworn in by Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 Stacye Speck during a ceremony in the County Commissioners Courtroom. Nearly 6 Million Texans Expected to Travel over July 4th Week
SAN ANGELO, TX - AAA Texas projects 5.6 million people in the Lone Star State will travel over this Independence Day holiday travel period, a 5.2% increase over last year. Millennials Labeled Most Dangerous Drivers, Study Finds
SAN ANGELO, TX - Millennials are the most dangerous drivers on the road, according to a new analysis of 2022 data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Update on Death of Young Giraffe at Abilene Zoo
SAN ANGELO, TX— In April, a two year old giraffe named Makena, died and now there has been an update on her death. In a Facebook post, the Abilene Zoo said: "Our lead veterinarian, Dr. Mike Nance, has provided a beautiful letter talking about Makena's life and explaining the results we received. Makena was very loved and cared for by our staff and community." Dr. Nance posted "A Heartfelt Goodbye" where he states he was there when Makena was born and watched her grow until her death. PETA & Protesters Collide at Sheep Unveiling
SAN ANGELO, TX— A PETA sheep was unveiled at the City Hall Annex on Tuesday and representative from PETA, and protesters, were present. PETA and protesters alike were at the City Hall Annex on Tuesday, June 2, 2024, for the reveal of a PETA sheep statue like the other sheep around San Angelo. Jakob Shaw, a special project manager at PETA, spoke to reporters at the unveiling after presenting the sheep that was adorned with sayings like "I'm not your socks.", "I'm someone, not a sweater.", and "I feel pain too."
