SAN ANGELO, TX — The 2024 high school football season is quickly approaching, and the San Angelo Central Bobcats Booster Club has an announcement for all who want to join the Little Bobcats Club. In a Facebook post on the San Angelo Central Athletic Booster Club page, the deadline to join the Little Bobcats Club has been extended. “The deadline to register your Little Bobcat has been extended to July 30,” the post read. Alvarez Hits for the Cycle as Astros Tie for First in AL West
SEATTLE, WA — The Houston Astros won a pivotal weekend series against one of their AL West rivals, the Seattle Mariners. On Sunday, Astros designated hitter Yordan Alvarez accomplished something that only nine other players have accomplished in Astros history. The lefty slugger hit for the cycle. The Astros ended up losing the game 6-4, but Alvarez claimed something that all big leaguers want. Melon Fest at the Farmer's Market is this Weekend
SAN ANGELO, TX — The City of San Angelo posted on its Facebook page recently reminding San Angeloans that this weekend is Melon Fest out at the Concho Valley Farmer’s Market. Concho Valley Farmer’s Market, located at 609 S. Oakes Street in downtown San Angelo, will host the event on Saturday, July 27, beginning at 7 a.m. The event will continue all day or until the local produce sellers run out of the variety of melons, they bring to Melon Fest this year. 13 Dogs Face Euthanasia as Animal Shelter Exceeds Capacity
SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Animal Shelter is urgently seeking adopters and fosters as it exceeds its capacity. Last week it was reported that 199 dogs were housed onsite. The shelter must reduce its population to below 180 dogs by 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, to avoid the euthanasia of 13 dogs. Learn More Here.
Man Dies in Ector County Detention Center; Texas Rangers Investigate
ODESSA, TX – A 50-year-old man died after being found unresponsive at the Ector County Detention Center on Sunday, according to the Ector County Sheriff’s Office. The man was reported to be Joe Miranda, and he was arrested by Odessa police on Saturday on charges of criminal trespassing, resisting arrest, public intoxication, and failure to identify, according to jail records. SAN ANGELO, TX – A Tom Green County Sheriff’s Deputy received a commendation from a grateful citizen following a recent incident where he assisted a motorist with a flat tire. This happened on Friday, July 19th, when Deputy Allen responded to a call for assistance in the county.

SAN ANGELO, TX - Corrections Officers at the Tom Green County Jail report that 7 individuals have been booked on charges ranging from tampering with physical evidence to criminal trespass. There are currently 445 individuals booked in the Tom Green County Jail.

SAN ANGELO, TX — In 2016, the San Angelo Fire Fighters Association (SAFFA) Local 886 purchased the buildings at 15 W. Beauregard and 17 W. Beauregard. On Sunday night, July 21, 2024, the sign adorning the firefighters association began to fall. Although affiliated with the AFL-CIO unions, public safety advocates like Local 886 in Texas prefer to be referred to as an association. While they cannot go on strike, they do advocate for better pay and working conditions for San Angelo’s firefighters. Learn More Here.
