Texas Domestic Violence Homicides Have Nearly Doubled Since 2013
The number of Texas women who are shot and killed by an intimate partner has almost doubled over the past 10 years. Last year, 205 domestic violence victims were killed in our state, the majority of which were by shooting. Domestic abusers under a protective order are not permitted to have a firearm under state and federal law, but some of those cases slip through the cracks. The Texas Council on Family Violence reported at least 20 cases that weren't properly handled, one of which, resulted in tragedy.

Boys and Girls club seeks community support
SAN ANGELO, Texas — The Boys and Girls Club of the Concho Valley is looking for community support in funding its operations. One representative of the organization says local donations are the only way to continue its efforts and continue having an impact on the young people of the area, but some of the more significant donors are not giving at the same level they had in the past. She also says the upcoming election has taken its toll on the organization’s bottom line.
