    City reports services limited amid global Microsoft, CrowdStrike outage

    SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) UPDATE, July 19, 2 p.m. — The City of San Angelo has stated that its Water Customer Service Division’s online payment system is back online after global Microsoft and CrowdStrike outages temporarily disrupted many City services.

    The update was issued at 1:39 p.m. on July 19, hours after the City announced that several of its services were experiencing complications due to the outages.

    The City stated that online payments can be made using its Pay or Purchase webpage. In-person payments using cash, credit or check may also be delivered to the City Hall Annex Building, located at 301 W. Beauregard Ave. Cash or check payments can also be placed in the 24/7 drop box located on the building’s south side.

    SAN ANGELO, Texas ( Concho Valley Homepage ) ORIGINAL, July 19, 10:06 a.m. — As a Microsoft and CrowdStrike outage continues to cause problems worldwide, the City of San Angelo has announced that it, too, i s suffering from technical issues.

    In a news release issued on the morning of July 19 , the City stated that its “use of technology will be limited today” due to the outages. The City has thus far confirmed that its Water Customer Service Division’s services are offline as of the time of publication, including “paying your water bill in person, online and over the phone.”

    The City said in its announcement that it will update the public once its services have been restored.

    The problems with the City’s services come amid a Microsoft and CrowdStrike outage that has swept across the globe. These outages have thus far interfered with air travel, medical procedures, media outlets, small and large businesses, banks and more.

    According to the Associated Press , CrowdStrike has stated that its outage was not caused by faulty security or cyberattacks, adding that “the issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed.” Microsoft declined to provide comments to the Associated Press.
